The introduction of series capacitors in transmission lines causes problems terms reliability and the security distance protection relays. As is widely used network, challenge applying it to compensated has been taken up by utilities relay manufacturers various ways. In field power system protection, developments are largely driven manufacturers, often not published academic literature; status trend manufacturer’s development better found their product manuals patent activity. Further insight into specific implementations can be from publications industry-led forums some journals. This article surveys for lines, with a focus on industrial implementation practical considerations. Factors that influence presented. Implementation examples reported summarized as different situations encountered methods deal them. It observed many use communication-aided reduced reach.
